By purchasing this yew certificate, you will contribute to the planting of yew seedlings, and the subsequent care of them, eg. their protection against deer and other hungry game.

A thousand yews to the mountains

Our goal is to plant at least 1,000 seedlings of this rare tree in the next two years in the Liberec region. We will plant seedlings both in forests and in the open landscape. Our intention is to find such habitats where there is apossibility that the yew will grow, begin to bear fruit, and then birds will help us with its further spread.

Yew is a very rare tree today, one barely finds it in nature at all. There are several reasons - on the one hand, it was widely used in the Middle Ages, for example, for the production of weapons, it was hardly planted in forests, so it only decreased. Moreover, it grows really very slowly. Thanks to this, however, it lives to a respectable age - some individuals are over a thousand years old.
